Franconia Sculpture Park, where I participated in the artist intern fellowship, has given me a job. Off to Minnesota once again. Also, pictures of my work at Franconia are coming soon.
The small sculpture show at Casket Arts this past weekend in Minneapolis for the Art-A-Whirl arts festival was a great success for Franconia Sculpture Park. A lot of people came out to see the show. Here are a few of the pieces from the show made by artists working at Franconia.
My piece. Aero Axem.
Jason Bord. The American Status.
Dane Winkler. Compost Turner.
Taylor Browning. Sickness #4.
New small piece, well, maquette really. I made Aero Axem as a formal concept, not really my thing, but I liked the outcome so I decided to include it in my work. It has been submitted to the Franconia Sculpture Park maquette show at the Casket Gallery in Minneapolis, MN.
As the snow melts here at Franconia we're hoping for the sun to come out soon. This weather is very unseasonable so we're hoping that east coast heatwave will head our way. There is a chance of rainy snow in the forecast... Hopefully it doesn't stick around. Regardless, I started working on small projects today and hope to have some mock-ups and small pieces done soon that will get me ready for the big piece that I've come to build. Until then here are some pictures from around the park. Enjoy the scenery.Mark di Suvero

I just accepted a new residency postition at Salem Art Works! I will be participating in their emerging artist program and working as a technician in their blacksmithing shop. I am now accepting donations to help fund my residency!!! I don't expect anything from anyone, but if you wanna contribute to a single artist as a means to help support the arts then here's your chance!!!
We're working here at Franconia, despite the weather... The snow has stopped and it is starting to melt. I'll post some pictures tomorrow of the park sans all the snow.
Hugh, over and out.
I've just arrived at Franconia Sculpture Park in Shafer, MN. Plenty of updates to come as I work out my internship. Thanks to everyone who helped get me here. Your kindness and donations will never be forgotten.
New piece/experiment I've been working on. Casting aluminum through ceramics. Turned out pretty well, only a few cracks from the thermal shock. This will be one of the final pieces in the machina series. More pictures to come after I get it cleaned up.
I have been accepted to Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota for a 10 week internship. I was planning to leave in June but they want me there by April 10th, so I have to leave by April 6th. This drastically cuts my time to work and save money up for driving out there. I need your help, a dollar or two, whatever you're willing to contribute to help a guy pursue a career as a practicing artist. This is a huge opportunity (12 people get chosen out of 100+ applicants) help a guy out!
Donate to help me get to Minnesota for my internship at Franconia Sculpture Park!!!
Info on the park is here:
I was selected for Salisbury's 2013 sculpture show! This is my first public exhibition of my work. The piece that was selected was "Life Geometric".
